Assam: Cattle Smugglers Apprehended by STF, Cash Seized

GUWAHATI: In a successful operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam, led by IPS officer Partha Sarathi Mahanta, apprehended two cattle smugglers in the Jorabat area. Acting on reliable intelligence, the STF collaborated with the Jorabat Outpost to launch the operation on Tuesday evening.

The STF team from Guwahati executed a well-planned search and successfully intercepted the two cattle smugglers, identified as Md. Samsuddin Ahmed and Md. Sahidul Islam, both hailing from Morigaon district. Alongside the smugglers, the team also recovered a substantial amount of cash totaling Rs 26.50 lakhs, a Mahindra Bolero vehicle bearing the registration number AS 01 FF 0527, and two mobile phones.

Following the operation, the STF team transferred the arrested individuals, the seized cash, car, and mobile phones to the Jorabat In-charge (I/C) for further legal procedures. The intention is to register a case against the culprits under the appropriate sections of the law and commence a thorough investigation.

Cattle smuggling has been a longstanding concern in the region, with organized networks involved in this illegal trade. It not only poses economic losses but also has implications for law and order. The STF's proactive action demonstrates their commitment to combat such illegal activities and protect the state's interests.

The role of intelligence-driven operations, such as the one led by IPS Partha Sarathi Mahanta, proves to be crucial in curbing criminal activities. The collaborative efforts between different law enforcement agencies ensure a more robust response to such criminal networks.

The seizure of a significant amount of cash points to the financial aspect of cattle smuggling. Disrupting the monetary gains of these criminal elements plays a significant role in dismantling their operations.

With the accused individuals and evidence handed over to the Jorabat I/C, the local authorities will proceed with registering the case. This will open the path for a comprehensive investigation into the entire network involved in cattle smuggling.

Citizens have praised the STF's swift action and expressed confidence in the law enforcement's ability to tackle such challenges effectively. The collaboration between different law enforcement units sets an example for future joint operations against organized crime.

The STF's successful operation in apprehending cattle smugglers and seizing a substantial amount of cash highlights the importance of intelligence-led actions in law enforcement. The investigation that follows will likely uncover more details about the smuggling network and help bring the culprits to justice. It also serves as a deterrent to others engaged in similar illegal activities, reinforcing the state's commitment to maintaining peace and security.
